When Mai Katona was just 10 years old, she was taken from her family  and brought to Retta Dixon Home, an institution for Aboriginal Children in Darwin.

Mai didn't see her mother again until she was 47 years old.

In her autobiography, 'Mai's Story: My Journey from the bush to the city', Mai writes about her remarkable life, including her work setting up a health centre for Indigenous women in Darwin, and lobbying the government to do more to support members of the Stolen Generations.
